We are currently seeking a Flume Operator to join our Boksburg team. This role is essential in ensuring that production processes run smoothly, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

As a Flume Operator, you will play a critical role in supporting production efficiency, safety, and quality. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Chemical Dosing and Testing
    • Accurately dosing chemicals and testing their concentration to ensure correct application.
    • Monitoring chemical levels and adjusting quantities as required for optimal performance.
    • Ensuring all chemical handling complies with safety guidelines and environmental standards.
  2. Product Distribution
    • Managing the flow and distribution of products across production lines.
    • Coordinating with machine operators and ensuring smooth product transfer throughout different stages of production.
    • Identifying blockages or flow issues and resolving them quickly to avoid downtime.
  3. Quality Control Documentation
    • Completing all required QC documents accurately and on time.
    • Recording test results, inspections, and any corrective actions taken.
    • Assisting with audits and maintaining documentation for compliance with food safety regulations.
  4. Health, Safety, and Compliance
    • Adhering strictly to company safety policies and industry legislation.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Raising SROs (Safety Risk Observations) and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment defects.
    • Participating in safety training sessions and promoting a culture of safety awareness.
  5. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
    • Following GMP standards to ensure hygienic, safe, and consistent production.
    • Upholding 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain workplace organization and efficiency.
    • Keeping the work environment clean and audit-ready at all times.
  6. Collaboration and Communication
    • Maintaining clear and professional communication with cooker and seamer operators.
    • Working closely with supervisors, maintenance teams, and other departments to resolve operational issues quickly.
    • Reporting any quality or production concerns to ensure continuous improvement.
  7. Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensuring compliance with MECP (Minimum Environmental Compliance Practices) standards.
    • Supporting the company’s sustainability and environmental goals by using resources efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills Required

To be considered for this role, candidates should ideally have:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a production, chemical handling, or manufacturing environment (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and documentation.
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements and PPE use.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • A detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.
