About the YES Programme

The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a government-backed initiative aimed at giving young people their first critical work experience. Eskom has proudly partnered with YES to host hundreds of interns across its operations nationwide.

Through this programme, participants are placed in various divisions across Eskom, including Investigation and Security, Finance, and other operational departments. The internship provides exposure to administrative, office support, and security-related roles, depending on placement.

The core purpose of the YES programme is to provide hands-on work experience, mentorship, and skills development to help unemployed youth transition into permanent employment opportunities, either within Eskom or in the wider job market.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Eskom YES Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a South African Citizen.
• Must be between 18 and 34 years old.
• Must have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent.
• A post-matric qualification or certificate will be advantageous but not compulsory.
• Applicants should not have been permanently employed with a single employer for longer than one year.
• Applicants should not be studying full-time during the year of participation.
• Applicants should not have previously participated in the YES initiative.

Placement Details

Successful candidates will undergo Eskom’s recruitment and selection process. If selected, participants will be placed within Eskom’s operational divisions across the country.

For the 2025 intake, placements will mainly be within the Investigation and Security Department under the Finance Division, at Megawatt Park in Gauteng, with the possibility of placements in other units as required.
