Key Purpose of the Role
In this position, you will:
- Provide excellent customer service and assist shoppers with finding the right products.
- Drive sales while helping to reduce stock losses.
- Process payments and operate the till with honesty and accuracy.
- Support the store team in managing stock and maintaining a safe, organised environment.
- Contribute to PEP’s vision of offering customers affordable products in a vibrant, positive atmosphere.

What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming and assisting customers as soon as they enter the store.
- Operating the cash register, processing transactions, and ensuring accuracy when handling money.
- Maintaining store presentation – keeping it neat, safe, and attractive for shoppers.
- Recommending products, upselling, and promoting special deals.
- Handling customer queries with professionalism and friendliness.
- Assisting with stock control – receiving deliveries, unpacking, and displaying items.
- Monitoring security and following loss-prevention procedures.
- Reaching set sales targets and staying updated on new products and promotions.
- Working together with the team to create a positive and efficient store environment.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A Matric certificate (Grade 12).
- Previous retail experience (e.g., cashier, sales assistant, store associate, retail consultant).
- Good communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-first attitude.
- Honesty and reliability, especially when dealing with cash.
- The ability to work well in a team, remain flexible, and adapt to changing store needs.
- Residence within 15 km of the store.
