Job Purpose
As a Merchandiser at Smollan, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the company’s clients’ products are well-presented, correctly priced, and always available on retail shelves. You’ll play a key role in influencing customer buying decisions by making sure products look their best.
Your work will involve visiting various stores, working closely with store managers and sales teams, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and retailers. This position requires energy, self-discipline, and pride in maintaining high merchandising standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Merchandising and Stock Management:
Ensure all products are correctly displayed according to planograms and brand guidelines. Refill shelves, rotate stock, and remove expired or damaged products. - In-Store Execution:
Maintain the brand’s image by ensuring displays, signage, and promotional materials are visible and attractive to customers. - Sales Support:
Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to meet store targets and ensure stock availability aligns with promotional campaigns. - Stock Rotation and Ordering:
Monitor inventory levels and communicate with store managers about restocking needs to prevent out-of-stock situations. - Reporting:
Complete daily or weekly reports using company systems or apps to track activities, promotions, and stock levels. - Relationship Building:
Develop and maintain positive relationships with store staff, management, and customers to ensure smooth operations and excellent service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Experience: Previous merchandising, retail, or sales experience is advantageous but not essential — training will be provided.
- Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team

- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Other Requirements:
- Must be physically fit (able to stand for long periods and lift stock if needed)
