Job Overview

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of security at client sites. Your main goal will be to ensure the safety of people, property, and assets by monitoring entrances, managing access control, patrolling designated areas, and responding to incidents as they arise.

You will act as the first line of defense — the face of safety and security at the premises you protect.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances, exits, and gate access points to ensure authorized entry only.
• Conduct regular patrols around buildings, parking lots, and restricted areas.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to alarms, security breaches, or emergencies.
• Maintain accurate logs of visitors, deliveries, and security incidents.
• Assist in managing crowd control during busy hours or special events.
• Enforce site rules and regulations in a calm, professional manner.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and law enforcement when necessary.
• Report suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or damages to property.
• Provide customer-friendly assistance to visitors, staff, and residents.
• Ensure communication equipment (radios, access scanners, etc.) is used properly and maintained in good working condition.

Gate Control Personnel will have additional duties that include:

• Verifying vehicle and personnel authorization before granting entry or exit.
• Logging all incoming and outgoing vehicles accurately.
• Performing security checks on vehicles and deliveries.
• Coordinating with management to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and compliance with site procedures.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate (minimum qualification).
• Valid PSIRA registration (Grade C or higher).
• Proven experience as a security guard, gate controller, or similar role will be an advantage.
• Strong communication skills in English (and local languages where applicable).
• Physically fit and able to stand or patrol for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• No criminal record and must pass background verification checks.
• Professional appearance and behavior at all times.
