Job Overview

As a Security Guard at Phangela Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and protection of client premises, employees, assets, and visitors. You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by patrolling, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings and access points, and authorizing the entry and exit of personnel and vehicles.

The ideal candidate is vigilant, professional, and capable of handling security situations with calmness and confidence. You must be customer-oriented and able to communicate effectively with clients, visitors, and team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular patrols of the premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, fire hazards, or irregular activities.
• Monitor and operate CCTV and alarm systems when required.
• Control access at entrances, gates, and security checkpoints to ensure only authorized personnel and vehicles enter restricted areas.
• Record and report any incidents, accidents, or suspicious behaviour in the occurrence book (OB) or via digital reporting systems.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, alarms, or disturbances.
• Assist in crowd control and ensure compliance with site-specific safety regulations.
• Conduct searches of vehicles or personnel when necessary and in accordance with company policy.
• Protect property, assets, and confidential information of clients at all times.
• Deliver high-quality customer service by providing guidance or assistance to visitors.
• Follow instructions from supervisors, site managers, and clients while maintaining professionalism and discipline.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate (or equivalent).
• PSIRA registration (minimum Grade C; higher grades will be advantageous).
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a security environment (retail, commercial, or industrial).
• Ability to communicate clearly in English and at least one other South African language.
• Must be physically fit, alert, and able to stand or patrol for long periods.
• No criminal record and willing to undergo background verification.
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Good interpersonal skills, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
