Key Responsibilities of a Casual Assistant

As a Casual Assistant, you will perform a variety of duties that contribute to the smooth operation of the store. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Customer Service

You will be one of the first points of contact for customers. Duties include greeting customers, offering assistance, answering queries, and ensuring that shoppers have a positive in-store experience. Excellent customer service skills are essential, as they help maintain the company’s reputation for service excellence.

Merchandising and Stock Management

Casual Assistants often help with unpacking stock, packing shelves, rotating products, and ensuring that the store layout is neat, organised, and visually appealing. You may also assist in receiving deliveries and helping the store maintain optimal stock levels.

Till Operation Support

Although not every Casual Assistant works directly on the till, you may be required to help with till-point duties such as assisting cashiers, bagging items for customers, or managing queues during peak hours. This helps ensure smooth and efficient checkout operations.

Housekeeping

Maintaining store cleanliness is an important part of the role. This includes keeping aisles tidy, ensuring display areas are presentable, and following hygiene standards that align with the nature of pharmacy and healthcare retail.

Assisting Various Departments

Depending on the branch’s needs, you may assist in departments such as beauty, vitamins, baby care, or front-shop operations. This exposure allows you to learn about different product categories and become familiar with retail best practices.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced retail environment.
