Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to provide visible, efficient and reliable security services to CPI clients. Security Guards are required to prevent incidents, monitor surroundings, enforce site rules, identify risks and act swiftly in response to emergencies. This role suits individuals who remain calm under pressure, communicate well and take pride in performing their duties with discipline and accuracy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Security Guard at CPI, you will be responsible for maintaining safety and order at designated locations. Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Access Control
- Monitoring entry and exit points for employees, visitors and suppliers.
- Conducting physical searches, bag checks and vehicle checks when required.
- Issuing access permits or visitor tags and ensuring they are returned.
2. Patrols and Surveillance
- Performing regular patrols of buildings, parking areas, fences and open spaces.
- Identifying suspicious behaviour and reporting any potential threats.
- Monitoring CCTV screens if assigned to a control room environment.
3. Incident Response
- Responding immediately to alarms, disturbances or emergencies.
- Managing crowd control and preventing unauthorised entry.
- Securing the area and calling senior staff, SAPS, ambulance or fire services when needed.
- Completing accurate incident reports.
4. Protecting Assets and Property
- Ensuring that company and client property remains secure at all times.
- Preventing theft, vandalism or damage by maintaining a visible presence.
- Following all procedures for safeguarding keys, equipment, and confidential information.
5. Customer Service
- Engaging professionally with staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Providing directions, assistance or information when required.
- Representing CPI positively through good communication and respectful behaviour.
6. Compliance and Reporting
- Completing registers, occurrence books, checklists and daily activity reports.
- Following all CPI and PSIRA regulations.
- Reporting safety hazards or maintenance issues.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Grade 10, Grade 11 or Grade 12 (advantageous depending on the site requirements).
- PSIRA Registration – Grade C, Grade D or Grade E (Grade C preferred).
- At least 6 months to 1 year of security experience is an advantage, but some sites may accommodate newly registered candidates.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- No criminal record (fingerprint checks will be conducted).
- Excellent physical fitness and the ability to stand or patrol for long hours.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, nights,s and public holidays as required.
- Professional appearance and a strong sense of discipline.
